A man, upset about being fired from his job, walked into the Civic Center in Binghamton, NY and took the lives of 14 people including his own. What can we do to defend ourselves from people who have no regard for the sanctity of life? These people are out there every day. You have to prepare for the worst in a real-life setting. Being prepared every day can save your life. Let me explain some easy ways for you to prepare yourself when you encounter a person who wants to do you harm.
First, there are some simple things you can do, like buying a small can of mace or Pepper spray to keep on your key ring. You have it with you at all times when you're out in the real world, whether you're going to the store, taking your loved ones to school, or going to the Civic Center to take classes.
The next thing you can do, is keep a larger can of mace or stun gun in an accessible location. A stun gun is a device that delivers an electric shock to your attacker. The disadvantage of a stun gun is that your attacker has to be closer to you in order to effectively deploy the weapon.
Next in the line of defense is theTaser , which is the optimum choice for most people out there. This device is similar to a stun gun, but with a greater advantage. Let me explain, a Taser is a handheld device that shoots two darts attached to thin copper wires that run back to the handheld device. When fired, the two darts are propelled by a CO2 charge toward the attacker and becoming impaled in either their flesh or the garment. A high voltage charge is sent down the wires into the darts and into the attacker, incapacitating them for up to 30 seconds, giving you plenty of time to drop the Taser on the ground, leave the scene and call for help.
Some of you might be worried about losing such an important device, but Taser guarantees to replace your device, free of charge, if it is used in an assault and you provide them with a simple police report of the incident. That tells you a lot about this company. These non-lethal devices are highly recommend for all citizens. I only wish someone would have had any of these simple devices with them at the Civic Center in Binghamton, NY. If they had, maybe this tragedy could have been avoided.
